Put away the coat racks and step outside!

Can you smell it in the air? Spring is here!

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and meetings should be moved outside. The summer is quickly approaching, and company leaders would be wise to consider moving events to a park, garden, or other outdoor venue.  Everyone is already staring longingly out the window.

There are near endless possibilities when it comes to outdoor events for your company. A company wide picnic is a great way to build relationships, celebrate the team, or make an exciting new announcement. It can also be fun to bring out everyone’s competitive side with a golf tournament or cook-off. Or get a little adventurous and take everyone rafting!

Grand Connection has had the joy of creating outdoor events for many of our clients. These have been some of our favorite events. We love to see everyone outside taking in the fresh air and sunshine while enjoying the local city. We highly recommend that company leaders and event planners make efforts to incorporate the local shops, cuisine, and other amenities.

Meeting planners should heed warning that an outdoor event for your client comes with many extra considerations, like tents, bathrooms, coolers, and repeated weather checks. It is always important to have a back-up plan, but when it comes to outdoor events, they are essential. It is also important to plan for the worst weather has to offer when making preparations.

Effective leaders know that having high moral in the office and among team members is essential to the overall success of the company. Cultivating and encouraging positive company moral can be accomplished in a variety of ways, from little things like donuts for the office on Fridays to large employee appreciation events. Company leaders should take advantage of the few months out of the year (at least here in the Midwest) when events can be held outside; the fresh air, warm sun, and good times will be a great boost to moral.

Now, before all the seats and suites are booked, let your meeting and event planner know you want to take it outside!
